Volunteers Tackle Storm Trash At Seal Beach

January 29th, 2010  |  Published in Events  |  2 Comments

We joined up with Kim Masoner and her group of cleanup volunteers today to help rid Seal Beach of the tons of trash which washed up due to the storms that hit Southern California the past several weeks.  The sheer immensity of what had already been collected by City workers using the beach “rake” (a large device pulled by a farming tractor along the sand) was substantial, yet insignificant.  Having been on the beach several times last week for the incredible surf conditions the inclimate weather brought us, though, we were impressed that a clear and cohesive horizon line could be seen by the human eye.

The swag counter was off the hook; local Seal Beach eateries Ruby’s Diner, Bogarts Coffee House, and ZPizza donated free food and/or beverages to all volunteers who came out to lend a helping hand.  Serenity Salon and Spa donated special 20% off coupons as well.

It is always a great feeling when you are a part of something good, wholesome, and decent.  Thanks so much, Kim, for organizing this cleanup event!
